We live in a world that is still highly dominated by gender roles.
Traditionally, women have been responsible for taking care of the home, family, elders, and children. It's also said that we are more intuitive or sensitive.
On the other hand, we associated men with different strengths, like having a cold mind or being more analytical.
We also tend to associate certain careers with a specific set of skills.
That's why we see many women choosing a career in communication, occupational therapy, or nursing.
On the other hand, we pushed men towards more scientific-technical careers like science, engineering, or mathematics.
Last, there's something extraordinary happening around technology and the way it's impacting our daily lives more than ever before.
Computers are everywhere, and they're becoming part of our children's culture and their upbringing.
With a book, we can take care of those three battles.
✅ CHARACTERS help us counter stereotypes and redefine those gender roles. The stories we tell play an essential role in helping children build their identities. They give them a sense of belonging and help them see STEM as something for them.
👀 Do you have an idea for a children's book to encourage more girls into STEM? What's your main focus? The characters? The story? What are you trying to teach?
